Scoring early and often, the Greenwich baseball team coasted to a 25-0 win over visiting Bridgeport Central on Friday.
Junior Tyler Cusimano went 4 for 4 with three RBI, while senior Jack Zola was 4 for 5 with two RBI for the Cardinals, who pounded out 26 hits in four innings. Senior Michael Rose went 3 for 3 with four RBI and junior Tommy Healey had three hits and drove in three runs for the victors.
Senior John McGrath (two hits, four RBI), senior Carson Bylciw (two hits, three RBI) and junior Marc Thiebeault (4 for 4 three RBI) also powered the offense. Matt Chioditti struck out seven in four-plus innings to earn the win.
Greenwich, which improved its record to 11-3, visits Fairfield Ludlowe Saturday at 11 a.m.
“This game against Ludlowe is important for state seeding,” Greenwich coach Adrian Arango said. “We want to get the best seed to get as many home games as possible. Ludlowe has been playing good baseball, so we have to go out there and play our best to get a win.”
Greenwich has two games next week, before the postseason begins.
“We need everyone to be on board and we have to maintain our positive energy going forward,” Arango said. “The boys are ready and they have worked hard to get to this point.”
