
Greenwich dropped a tough 10-8 eight-inning decision to Norwalk in an FCIAC game held on Monday in Greenwich.
With the score tied at 7-7, Norwalk scored three runs in the eighth inning to take a 10-7 lead. The Cardinals scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Bears held on for the win.
Senior catcher/tri-captain Olivia McClammy powered the Cardinals’ lineup. McClammy went 4 for 4 with a home run, three singles and six RBI to pace Greenwich’s offense.
Chloe Smith, a senior tri-captain who plays first base, was 3 for 5 with three singles and one RBI for the Cardinals, who finished the game with 15 hits. Norwalk also had 15 hits on its way to the win. Senior tri-captain Kayla Darling got the start on the mound for the Cards, who host Fairfield Warde today at 5 p.m.
Junior Madison Murphy added three singles for Greenwich.
