Led by senior co-captains, Olivia Berkery and Mary Hawthorn, the Sacred Heart Greenwich cross country team, coached by Suzanne Myette and Coach Lindsay Thompson, has performed well in the six meets it has competed in so far this season.
The team finished in second place at the Wilton Invitational on Sept. 18th, posted an 8-0 record at an FAA meet Sept. 22, and placed second out of 11 teams at the Canterbury Invitational (Sept. 25). More recently, the team participated in the Manhattan College Invitational Race at Van Cortlandt Park, on Oct. 9.

Sophomore Ava Lillis placed 20th out of 126 runners in the girls varsity E pool at the Manhattan College Invitational. Sacred Heart placed eighth out of 18 teams in the same group, with freshman Maggie Finn coming in 31st place and junior Annie Finn placing 56 out of 126 athletes.
“Our team has been doing exceptionally well this season and I am incredibly proud of everyone,” Hawthorn said. “I think we will continue to excel as runners as the season progresses. Win or lose, I am always proud of our team and am so honored to be one of the captains this year.”
The Tigers cross country team will take on Kent School, Oct. 16 and they will celebrate their Senior Day Oct. 20, at Brunswick School.
