A goal by junior Sarina Kusakdinun lifted the Greenwich Academy field hockey team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Tabor Academy in a NEPSAC game held on Saturday.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Kusakdinun scored what turned out to be, the game winning goal in the second quarter. Her goal came off a penalty corner. Junior Laetitia Cartellieri assisted on the goal for GA.
Ellie Volpe, a junior, made four saves for the shutout win.
“Tabor had a good transition game,” Greenwich Academy coach Jamie Brower said. “They were all athletic and strong. We tried to capitalize on our chances and play solid defense. The kids played great as a team.”
Greenwich Academy generated a good amount of shots on goal, as Tabor’s goalie made nine saves.
“She was fun to watch,” Brower said of Tabor’s goalie. “Their goalie was an amazing player, making some glove saves and a split save on a couple of our shots.”
GA celebrates its Senior Day on Thursday against Holy Child at 4 p.m., then will host rival Sacred Heart Greenwich Saturday at 3 p.m.
