Sparked by senior Lucas Pombo, the Brunswick School cross country team went 6-1 at Wednesday’s FAA meet held at Brunswick.
The Bruins, who finished with a team score of 64 points, defeated Greens Farms Academy, St. Luke’s School, Rye Country Day School, Greenwich Country Day School, King and Masters School. Hopkins School went a perfect 7-0 at the meet.
Pombo won the 3.1-mile race for Brunswick with a time of 16:33.40. William Bennett from King was the runner-up in 16:46.70. Al Nickerson, a Greenwich Country Day School junior, finished third in the race, crossing the finish line in 17:00.10.
Nathan Lee, an eighth-grader, finished fourth for the Bruins, clocking in at 17:21.00. Luke Dougherty, a sophomore, placed 11th with a time of 17:58.60, while Brunswick teammate Walter Scott, a senior, finished in 23rd place.
Carter Bagaria (sophomore, 18:59.50, 23rd place), Charlie Stemerman (junior, 19:21.20, 29th place), Patrick Duncan (sophomore, 19:28.90, 33rd) and Kieran Raker (sophomore, 19:29.80, 34th) also paced Brunswick.
For Greenwich Country Day, senior Vaughn Shannonhouse was 31st (19:25.50) and senior Harrison Cole placed 40th (19:40.30).
