
Receiving strong performances throughout its lineup, Sacred Heart Greenwich’s golf team is off to a successful start to the new season.
Sacred Heart improved its record to 2-0 with a 4.5-0.5 victory over Rye Country Day School in an FAA match held at The Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y., on Wednesday.
At the No. 1 position, senior Kate Hong of Sacred Heart defeated Gabi Jolly, 1-up. Hong will play golf next season at College of the Holy Cross. She is one of the Tigers’ senior captains.
Isabella Salerno was victorious at the No. 2 spot for Sacred Heart, topping Rye Country Day’s Claire Yu, 2-up. The third spot saw Emmy Marlatt of the Tigers and Kate Burdick of RCDS tie their match.
SHG’s Lydia Fullerton, also a captain, won her matchup at No. 4 against Jade Houston, 5 and 4. At No. 5, Sam Mecane gave Sacred Heart a 4 and 3 win. She defeated Melanie Asness.
Sacred Heart (2-0, 1-0 FAA) plays Greens Farms Academy at Country Club of Fairfield on Monday.
