Greenwich High girls water polo team has rolled to a 4-0 start to its season

Decisive victories against Greenwich Academy and Staples raised Greenwich High School’s water polo team’s record to a perfect 4-0 to start the season.

On Thursday, the Cardinals stormed past Staples, 23-5, in a game held in Westport. Richa Vaid scored a game-high seven goals to power the Cardinals.

Bronte Brock registered five goals, while Bella Schraa, a senior co-captain, notched four goals to also pace Greenwich its road win against Staples.

Senior co-captain Emma Phillips recorded a hat trick and Brenna Coffey tallied twice in the winning effort. Also leading the Cardinals’ offense were Daisy Gray (2 goals), Olivia Hopper (1 goal) and Emma Gustafsson (1 goal).

In the Cardinals’ 14-6 victory against Greenwich Academy on Wednesday at Greenwich High School, Schraa and Ellen Norell each posted hat tricks, while Coco Whittle had two goals. Gustaffson, Olivia Hopper, Phillips, Mikaela Browning, Sophie Wang and Sophia Ojjeh added one goal apiece for the victors.

For Greenwich Academy, Nina Chamberlain scored three times, while Tess Charney, Devan Fauser and Rory Keller each had one goal. Up next for Greenwich High is a matchup against Greenwich Aquatics on April 26.
