
Greenwich High School’s girls tennis team added two more convincing wins to its ledger this week, sweeping past Danbury and Bridgeport Central.
Today, the Cardinals visited Bridgeport Central and returned to Greenwich with a 7-0 victory. Sophomore Kyra Dybas received the start at first singles for Greenwich today and promptly posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Paola Pereira.
Malena Schraa, a sophomore, was victorious at second singles for Greenwich, sweeping Naomi Maxwell, 6-0, 6-0. Lilly Foley, also a sophomore, was a 6-0, 6-0 winner for GHS at third singles, as was freshman Emme Pecorin at fourth singles.
In doubles action, Cardinals senior captains Courteney Sheets and Kylie Finkelstein recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win against Cynthia Mendoza/Aliyah Smith at the No. 1 spot. At second doubles, sophomore Emily Weinstein and freshman Yume Inagawa were perfect, winning their match for GHS, 6-0, 6-0.
Third doubles saw sophomore Jacqui Weinberg and junior Sydney Floch register a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.

In the Cards’ 7-0 triumph against Danbury on Tuesday, junior Ivanna Diez de Bonilla breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. Dybas was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at second singles, while Foley won her match at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 4 singles spot, Greenwich freshman Izzy Everett coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
In doubles play, Sheets and Weinstein teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Weinberg and Pecorin were off the court quickly in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2. Floch and sophomore Emma Polizzi were victorious at third doubles, 6-1, 6-1.
Up next for the Cardinals is a home match against a tough Westhill team tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
