Greenwich High School’s boys tennis team now sports a perfect 11-0 record after downing Bridgeport Central, 11-0, in a road match held on Wednesday in Bridgeport.
Yuta Kawamura was victorious at first singles for the Cardinals, coasting to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Isaiah Sohn was a three-set winner for the Cardinals at No. 2, pulling out a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 win. At third singles, Yuta Takahashi won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Central forfeited the No. 4 singles match. At first doubles, Ishan Ambastha and Lucas Piccininno breezed past their foes, 6-0, 6-0. Harrison Wolfe and Elliot Staple were also perfect at second doubles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
On Tuesday, Greenwich hosted Danbury and swept to a 7-0 triumph. Kawamura won his matchup at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Wolfe was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 2, while Tristan Sowter was victorious at third singles, 6-1, 6-0. Rohan Mittal also won his match at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Nick O’Brien and Manuel Galli Specos gave GHS a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the top spot. Staple and Takahashi teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2, while Piccininno and Alex Salib also did not drop a game in winning their No. 3 doubles match.
Greenwich visits FCIAC foe Westhill today at 4:30 p.m.
