Charlie Johnson’s prowess as a defender on the Brunswick School lacrosse team was certainly well known during his Bruins career.
Recognized as a top-notch defensive player, Johnson helped power Brunswick’s outstanding unit on defense, which made it difficult for the opposition to generate goals throughout the 2022 season.
Recently, USA Lacrosse announced its 2022 High School All-America players and Johnson, a Greenwich resident and 2022 Brunswick graduate, was one of the premier players that earned All-American status.

A 6-foot-1, 200-pound defender, Johnson will continue his lacrosse career at Duke University, after competing and excelling for Brunswick the past several seasons.
The defensive unit that Johnson helped anchor this past spring was one of the strengths of the Bruins, who posted a record of 15-1 and finished the season ranked No. 2 in nation in the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys Top 25 rankings.
Coached by David Bruce, Brunswick concluded its sensational 2022 season by defeating visiting Lawrenceville School, 12-6, in the championship game of the inaugural Prep Nationals tournament last month.
Soon, Johnson, whose sister Ellie earned USA Lacrosse All-America honors as a defender for Greenwich Academy, will take his physical play, great cover skills and speed to Duke.
Charlie was also selected to compete in the 17th annual Under Armour All-America Senior Game, which is scheduled to take place on July 30, in Baltimore, Maryland.
