Vivi Caruso scores four goals in Sacred Heart field hockey team’s triumph vs. visiting FAA foe Hopkins School

Vivi Caruso’s four goals paced Sacred Heart Greenwich’s field hockey team to victory against Hopkins School.

Sacred Heart Greenwich raised its record to 3-0 with a 7-0 victory over visiting Hopkins School in an FAA game held on Monday.

Senior Vivi Caruso tallied four goals to propel the Tigers to their third straight win. During their three-game winning streak, Sacred Heart has outscored its opponents, 22-0.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers had a torrid second quarter, notching four goals, off of which came from Caruso’s stick. Caruso began the game’s scoring with 12:01 left in the second quarter, then scored off an assist from senior tri-captain Kate Nemec with 6:19 to go in the second quarter.

Caruso added goals at the 4:42 mark of the second stanza then tallied again with 2:30 left off an assist from senior tri-captain Delfina Gonzalez Lobo.

In the third quarter, senior tri-captain Ines Araujo scored off a pass from Kate Nemec 57 seconds into the third quarter. Nemec and junior Emma Marvin added third-quarter goal for the victors. Ainsley Clough assisted on Nemec’s goal.

“We are pleased with today’s performance against Hopkins,” SHG coach Alex Gheorghe said. “We connected pretty well. This game gives us good momentum for our next game against Taft, a very talented team.”

That game against Taft happens Wednesday at Taft at 3 p.m.
