Running to victory is certainly nothing new to Maddy Lee.

A Greenwich Academy junior, Lee entered Monday’s FAA Cross Country Championships as the winner of every league race this fall and she wasn’t about to have her success streak stopped at the much-anticipated championship meet.

Lee won the race at the FAA Cross Country Championships held at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, registering a time of 19:04.1.

Besides winning all of the FAA races she has competed in this season, Lee also crossed the finish line first and captured the winner’s medal at the 2021 Cross Country Championships. She had a first-place finish in last season’s race in the FAA finals in 19:49.1, so she improved her time from a year ago by 45 seconds.

Behind Lee’s winning performance, Greenwich Academy finished second in the team standings out of eight teams with a team score of 79 points. Hopkins won the team title with 54 points. Greens Farms Academy was third (83 points), followed by Sacred Heart Greenwich (97), Greenwich Country Day School (121), Rye Country Day School (137), St. Luke’s (147) and Holy Child (163).
