Greenwich High girls lacrosse team rolls past Glastonbury, improves record to 2-0

Following a 20-goal outburst in its season-opener against Norwalk, the Greenwich High School girls lacrosse team continued to register goals at an impressive pace when it visited Glastonbury this past Tuesday.

Receiving a game-high six goals from junior Emma Abbazia, the Cardinals raised their record to 2-0 with a resounding 16-2 road triumph against Glastonbury in a non-conference game.

Abbazia, who scored four goals in Greenwich’s season-opening 20-4 victory over Norwalk, added one assist to go along with her six goals against Glastonbury.

Senior Cece Tauber, who also totaled four goals against Norwalk, also sparked the Cardinals’ offense versus Glastonbury, recording five goals and two assists. Sophomore Aubrey Roth also paced Greenwich, tallying two goals and one assist.

Juniors Libby Zola and Liv Caminiti added one goal apiece, as did freshman Giselle DiPietro for the victors. Junior MK Frey had two assists, while junior Tess Furno and freshman Sophia DiPietro each notched one assist in the winning effort.

Kate Janis, a junior, made three saves for the win. Up next for the Cardinals is a road game against FCIAC foe Stamford on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Greenwich will then play host to non-conference opponent Simsbury on Thursday at 12 p.m.
