The Greenwich High School boys tennis team made it a perfect 10 today.
The Cardinals ran their record to a perfect 10-0 by sweeping to a 7-0 win over visiting Bridgeport Central. In singles action, Volodymyr Dombrovskyi was victorious at the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomore Manuel Galli Specos won his match at No. 2 singles against Central, 6-0, 6-0. Eli Norton, a senior, registered a 6-2, 6-3 victory at third singles, while junior Bruce Lunder won his match by forfeit at fourth singles.
In doubles play, seniors Cai Jain and Nick O’Brien swept to a 6-0, 6-0 win for Greenwich, while Ishan Ambastha, a sophomore and junior Tristan Sowter were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2. At No. 3, sophomores Nicholas Frumin/Daniel Lee posted a 6-0, 6-0 win.
This past Friday, Greenwich got past FCIAC rival Ridgefield, 5-2. Sowter played at third singles and was victorious against Ridgefield’s Ryan Crawford 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Matthew Hunt registered a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles.
The Cardinals swept the Tigers in doubles play. Sophomore Alexander Salib and Lunder teamed up for a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 triumph at the No. 1 spot, while Frumin and senior Zachary Tobac took a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 decision from Ridgefield at No. 2. At No. 3, Lee/Norton posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Greenwich visits Danbury for a 4:30 p.m. FCIAC matchup today.
