
Greenwich Academy’s tennis team added another impressive win to its ledger, topping Taft School in Watertown recently, 9-0. GA followed its victory against Taft with a 5-2 triumph over Greens Farms Academy in Westport on Thursday.
With the two victories, Greenwich Academy sports a perfect record of 11-0. Against Taft, Charlotte Pastel of GA was victorious at No. 1 singles against Channing Abbot, 8-1. Emily Sherman won her match at second singles for the Gators, defeating Milli Lydon, 8-3.
At No. 3, Shields McClure was an 8-1 winner over Taft’s Willhelmina Houck, 8-1. Elsa Burgess posted an 8-4 victory for GA at fourth singles, while teammate Ella Loehnis took her match at No. 5, 8-1.
Mia Jones (No. 6) also registered an 8-1 win in singles competition for the Gators. In doubles play, Pastel and Sherman teamed up for an 8-6 triumph at the top spot, while Burgess/Loehnis (No. 2) were victorious 8-1. At third doubles, Jones and Shields were 8-4 winners.
Greenwich Academy will look to continue its perfect season when it hosts FAA foe Hopkins School Wednesday at 3 p.m.
