
After winning the Class LL and FCIAC tournaments and going undefeated in the process, the Greenwich High School boys tennis team has been well represented in the CIAC Invitational Tournament.
A group of Cardinals players are competing in the CIAC Invitational at Wesleyan University’s tennis center in Middletown and all of the athletes fared well Monday – the opening day of the event.
In the tournament’s singles bracket, Greenwich senior Dylan Atkinson is seeded second. Atkinson received a first-round bye in the 64-player singles bracket, then defeated Jackson Carbonier of Wilton, 6-4, 6-1 in the second round.
Atkinson, who excelled at No. 1 singles for Greenwich throughout its championship season, plays Michael Lorenzetti of Notre Dame-West Haven in today’s Round of 16 match at Wesleyan. The quarterfinals are also scheduled to be held today.

Cardinals freshman Volodymyr Dombrovskyi, seeded 12th, also enjoyed a winning day in his first action at the CIAC Invitational. He received a first-round bye, then topped Akhil Vallabhjosula from Wilton in the Round of 32, 6-2, 6-2. Dombrovskyi is scheduled to face fifth-seeded James Lorenzetti of Notre Dame-West Haven in today’s Round of 16 matchup at Wesleyan.
In the CIAC Invitational’s doubles bracket, Greenwich seniors Cai Jain and Nick O’Brien, seeded second, earned a first-round bye. Jain and O’Brien will play Akshay Bulsara/Benjamin Glassman of Amity in the today’s Round of 16 match.

Sophomore Rohan Mittal and junior Harrison Wolfe of Greenwich won their first-round match against Rohan Boopathy/Rohan Purohit of East Catholic, 6-1, 7-5. The Cardinals duo plays fourth-seeded Matthew Kelly/Robert Donahue of Fairfield Prep in today’s Round of 16.
