Eva Wilkerson’s skills and talents on both ends of the court helped lead Sacred Heart Greenwich’s varsity basketball team to its most successful season in school history, a season in which it captured the NEPSAC Class A Basketball Tournament championship for the first time.
Wilkerson was recognized for the characteristics that propelled Sacred Heart Greenwich to its most memorable season in program history, as she was selected as the NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year for the 2025-2026 winter season. Yet that’s not all.
Wilkerson, who will continue her basketball career at Towson University, which has a Division I program, was also named the New England Prep Schools Girls Basketball Association Class A Defensive Player of the Year for the recently concluded 2025-2026 winter season.

For the season, the Tigers posted a record of 21-7 and won the NEPSAC Class A Tournament championship, along with advancing to the championship game of the FAA Basketball Tournament. In the NEPSAC Class A Tournament final on March 8th at Noble & Greenough School in Massachusetts, Sacred Heart defeated Loomis Chaffee School, 53-46, to capture its first NEPSAC championship.
Wilkerson scored a team-high 17 points for Sacred Heart and was presented with the NEPSAC Class A Tournament MVP following the Tigers’ championship win. As it was pointed by Sacred Heart, Wilkerson led the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, deflections, and shooting percentage during their NEPSAC championship season.
Wilkerson made a team-high 92 steals and grabbed 206 rebounds during her senior season for SHG, a season she won’t forget.

“I think it’s really exciting, I think it’s a testament to the whole team,” Wilkerson said of receiving the postseason awards. “I don’t think I could have gotten it without them.”
Wilkerson spoke of the influence head coach Ayo Hart, the 2025-2026 NEPSAC Class A Coach of the Year, had on her defensive effort throughout the year and her high school career at SHG.
“Coach Hart really emphasizes defense throughout the entire year and our main principle is defense, because defense wins championships,” Wilkerson said. “She has been there since the beginning and she has taught me the principles in order to succeed.”

As for the Tigers’ success this past season?
“I couldn’t have imagined a better season,” Wilkerson noted. “It really came together at the end and we all clicked at the right time. All the hard work we put into the whole season and never giving up showed that last game.”

Wilkerson reached and surpassed the 1,000-career point plateau for the Tigers as a senior. For her senior season, she averaged 15.7 points per game, 9.3 rebounds a game and averaged four steals per game. Indeed, she was truly a threat on both ends of the floor.
She is now getting ready to compete at the Division I level at Towson University in Maryland.
“I’m really excited, I’m preparing and I’m really excited for what the future holds,” Wilkerson said.
