Greenwich Country Day boys lacrosse team captures FAA Tournament championship with home victory over Hamden Hall Country Day

Greenwich Country Day School’s varsity boys lacrosse team capped an undefeated season against its FAA foes by rolling to a 10-4 win over Hamden Hall Country Day School in the championship game of the FAA Tournament on May 14 at Offit Field at GCDS.

The win gave Greenwich Country Day a sweet repeat, as it captured the coveted FAA Tournament title for the second straight season. The Tigers, coached by Andy Copelan, finished their 2026 season with an overall record of 13-4 and an FAA mark a perfect 9-0.

In the championship game of the FAA Tournament, senior attack Winston Rose recorded a game-high three goals and added two assists to lead Greenwich Country Day’s offense.

Ciaran Joyce, a freshman midfielder, scored two goals for the Tigers, who defeated Hornets, 15-10, during the regular season.

Henry Fisher, a sophomore midfielder, had two goals, as did freshman midfielder Mason Copelan for GCDS.

Sophomore Conor Joyce, a sophomore attack, added one goal in the winning effort.

Top-seeded GCDS advanced to the title game of the FAA Tournament by earning a 13-4 win over fourth-seeded Greens Farms Academy in the semifinal-round.

Third-seeded Hamden Hall made it to the tournament’s championship game with an 18-13 victory over No. 2-seeded Rye Country Day School in the semifinals.

For the season, Greenwich Country Day scored in double figures – more than 10 goals – in every one of its FAA games in victories versus King School, Hopkins School, Greens Farms Academy, Kingswood-Oxford, St. Luke’s School and two wins apiece against Rye Country Day and Hamden Hall.
