
Receiving clutch hits from numerous players and solid pitching from freshman Sophia Blois, Greenwich High School’s softball team posted an 8-6 victory over host Weston in a non-conference game today.
Blois pitched a complete game, striking out seven batters, while not allowing a walk, to earn the win for the Cardinals (2-7). Freshman Casey Natale went 3 for 4 with an RBI to help power the Cardinals’ lineup.
Sophomore Mia Gangi was 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI, while freshman Gianna Toscano went 2 for 4 for Greenwich, which scored six runs in the pivotal third inning. Toscano also had a double in the win.
Megan Geiger, a sophomore, provided key hits as well for the Cards, going 2 for 4, while driving in two runs. Greenwich scored one run in the second inning, six runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning. They finished the game with 12 hits.
Up next for Greenwich is a game against Fairfield Warde in Fairfield on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Cardinals will then host Trumbull on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
